At the turn of the 21st century, the Board of Directors of Catholic United Financial approved the establishment of a member-owned credit union that would operate under the same values and business principles as its parent company. 

Since then, Catholic United Financial Credit Union has provided banking products and services to catholic individuals, families, and organizations throughout the Midwest.

In February 2026, the Credit Union announced a proposed merger with Notre Dame Federal Credit Union.

In March 2026, our members approved the merger with Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. The effective merger date is April 1, 2026.

• 2001 - Catholic Aid Association Credit Union was charted by the State of Minnesota
• 2010 - Changed its name to Catholic United Financial Credit Union to reflect its parent company.
• 2012 - Merged with Catholic Credit Union of St. Cloud
• 2016 - Relocated the St. Cloud office to its current location on St. Germain Street
• August 2020 - Appointed Maureen Daehn as president
• July 2021 - Merged with St. Thomas Employee Federal Credit Union
• October 2022 - Maureen Daehn announces retirement and Andrea Ferkingstad is appointed as new president
• April 2023 - Announces the Credit Union's St. Cloud office will relocate to downtown St. Cloud in October 2023.
• October 2023 - New Catholic United Financial Center & Credit Union opens in downtown St. Cloud.
• February 13, 2024 - Grand Opening Celebration New Catholic United Financial Center in St. Cloud
• February 2, 2026 - Announced proposed merger with Notre Dame Federal Credit Union
• March 18, 2026 - Members approved merger with Notre Dame Federal Credit Union
• April 1, 2026 - Credit Union merges with Notre Dame Federal Credit Union
